Look and Learn at ASU Art Museum

ASU Art Museum has an abundance of interesting exhibits to experience this fall! Exhibits are always rotating through the museum so there’s something different to see each time you go. And best of all, admission is free, so this is both a fun and affordable outing.

On exhibition through January 30, 2010 is “Defining Sustainability: ASU Art Museum Collection.” Students from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts and the School of Sustainability explore art and sustainability issues raised by artworks in the ASU Art Museum’s permanent collection. Both past and present examples of artists will be displayed exploring human interaction with the land, urbanization, natural and manmade materials, pollution, cultural sustainability and sustainable processes.

Another facinating exhibit at the museum right now is “Nowhere to Hide: Three Artists in the Desert,” on exhibition through February 20, 2010. Nowhere to Hide presents the work of three artists who live in Phoenix and have explored definitions of sustainability in their multi-media artworks. Their approaches range from photography to sound sculpture and gouache paintings.

These are just two of the current exhibits, but there is much more to see and learn at ASU Art Museum through the artwork and exhibitions that live there. The opportunity to learn something new, or see something in a brand new light might possibly take your breathe away!
